#SenateWrapUp: The Senate gets back to business as it remains vigilant in protecting the Philippines' democratic processes, making sure that the Filipinos' interest always prevails.

Here are last week's highlights:

• Senate President Juan Miguel "Migz" F. Zubiri delivered a privilege speech on his meeting with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

• Senate leaders welcomed the Commission on Elections suspending the acceptance of people's initiative signature sheets.

• Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, in a privilege speech, called on Filipinos to be guided by God's Word towards truth and righteousness amid efforts to undermine the Constitution.

• Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros warned against allowing a joint voting by Congress on charter amendments.

• Witnesses testified about the payoffs and misleading promises in the signature campaign for people's initiative during the Committee on Electoral Reforms and People's Participation hearings in the Senate and in Davao City.

• The Committee on Economic Affairs discussed the proposed establishment of the Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (BACSEZFA).

• The Games and Amusement Subcommittee resumed its inquiry into the integrity and trustworthiness of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office's Lotto games.

• Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda celebrated her birthday by helping Filipino farmers as she hosted the second “Bayong-All-You-Can” in the Senate.
