BMW was thinking outside the box when they developed the i3. Rather than taking a regular gas powered car and removing the engine and replacing it with an electric motor and batteries, the i3 was developed from the ground up to be an EV. With a range extender you get a small 2.5 gallon fuel tank and a small motorcycle engine that acts like a generator to get you where you need to go in case you fully deplete the battery. Using an extensive use of weight saving aluminum, carbon fiber and other composites this Bimmer is light on its feet allowing it to maximize its range and performance. Capable of accelerating from 0-60-mph in about 7 seconds its very quick, faster than many gas powered vehicles. The clean modern interior is a breath of fresh air, unlike most other interior designs you find in cars it features gorgeous wood trim, and a huge display screen to operate navigation and other vehicle functions. The i3 was not just designed to be green by being electric, BMW went to great lengths to make sure the assembly process and eventual disposal process when its at the end of its life-cycle are and will be environmentally friendly.
