Ayaan Hirsi Ali lived in The Netherlands from 1992 to 2006. She became a Dutch politician and regularly expressed her concerns towards the Islamisation of The Netherlands and towards the treatment of women within Islam. After one of Ayaan's friends, Theo van Gogh, got knifed down by a Muslim on the streets of Amsterdam, Ayaan left The Netherlands and went to the United States, where she continued her work.
