This is the twelfth session of an eighteen-lesson course for absolute beginners wishing to learn Arabic. In this lesson, you will be able to practise reading and writing words carrying the sukoon symbol, working from pages 56 to 59 of the book, as well as learning about the diphthongs ‘-ay’ and ‘-ow’. You will also be introduced to the shadda symbol and learn how it represents a doubling of the consonant that carries it. Pages 60 to 61 provide you with the opportunity to read and write words bearing the shadda. In addition, you will learn to ask and answer the questions ‘Where are you from?’ and ‘Where do you live?’

The course as a whole is based on the book 'Arabic from the Beginning: Part One' by Dr. Imran Hamza Alawiye, which is available from the publisher's website: www.gatewaytoarabic.com. The course teaches everything you need to know to read and write the Arabic script, as well as useful Arabic phrases.
