VN24 - 10.05.2021 - Enningerloh / Germany - On a country road near Westkirchen, north of Enningerloh, a 100-ton mobile crane has crashed into a field. The new telescopic crane with a own weight of almost 50 tons had gone out of control in a slight left-hand bend. According to the driver of the vehicle, a truck was coming towards him precisely in the area of the bend. In an attempt to drive as far as possible along the right-hand edge of the road, the crane and its four axles ended up on the unpaved shoulder, from which it was unable to extricate itself. As a result, the crane left the roadway, drove down a slight slope and overturned. Extensive preparatory work had to be carried out for the recovery operation, which took hours. A power line had to be dismantled and secured, and temporary fixed crane sites had to be set up on the narrow country road for two mobile cranes. The driver of the mobile crane involved in the accident escaped with comparatively minor injuries.
