Does anyone know anything about this type of old dug water well? It is on our land by the creek and seems to be fairly deep. We have natural springs on the land and wonder if this well is sitting on one. We would like to find out if maybe we could use this to supply water to our new house that we are going to build.

The water was more clear at one point and with a flashlight I could see what looked like a sand base way down there.

Also, water would have to be pumped up hill to the home site. It is a good distance. I have not measured yet, but am guessing it is somewhere around 300 to 400 feet. Would it make sense to bury some pipes and pump it up there? Our neighbors paid over $10,000 to have their well dug. They are also up on a hill, but no where near a creek like we are.
