Jameela, which means "beautiful" in Swahili, was born four to six weeks early, Fort Worth Zoo officials said.

She was born via emergency C-section that required life-saving care for the mother and premature infant gorilla. Sadly, her mother had "little interest" in her baby, according to the zoo.

Caretakers attempted to train other gorillas at the zoo to become Jameela's surrogate mother but without success. So they sent her to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo where she was accepted by one of the female gorillas there.
