“Jesus spoke to them again: “I AM the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

1) WHAT IF DETOURS AREN’T ACTUALLY DETOURS?
So the Pharisees said to him, “You are testifying about yourself. Your testimony is not valid.” “Even if I testify about myself,” Jesus replied, “my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I’m going. But you don’t know where I come from or where I’m going. (John 8:13-14)

You judge by human standards.[b] I judge no one. And if I do judge, my judgment is true, because it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. Even in your law it s written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. I am the one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me.” Then they asked him, “Where is
your Father?” “You know neither me nor my Father,” Jesus answered. “If you knew me, you would also know my Father.” (John 8:15-19)

2) Jesus is the Light for SALVATION
Though Jesus was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the
name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:6-11)

3) Jesus is the Light for TRANSFORMATION
“There is nothing covered that won’t be uncovered, nothing hidden that won’t be made known. Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in an ear in private rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.” (Luke 12:2-3)
