This Dog was Depressed Until he met an Unusual Friend


Who said that friendships are something that only humans can experience? I’ve said it in the past and I’ll say it again...we can’t simply attribute human traits to animals, but sometimes you see things that make you realize that animals are quite capable of showing emotions. There are tons of examples in nature that show us that animals are capable of developing affection for each other - even when they’re completely different species! And a lot of these friendships can be quite unexpected. Like this dog who was depressed and his world changed when he met a very unusual friend. Do you want to know the story behind that friendship? An African Elephant and a Black Labrador

The first friendship on this list is one between a wild animal and a domestic one. Bubbles, the African Elephant and Bella, a Black Labrador have become very good friends and these photos are proof of that. It all started after Bella was rescued from a group of poachers in Africa who were looking to get their hands on her precious ivory tusks. She was then brought to a Safari in the U.S. where she met her new best friend, Bella. Bubbles is almost 3 meters tall and weighs at least 4 tons, but the difference in size has not gotten in the way for these two to become friends and be comfortable around each other. It must have been very rewarding for Bubbles to start such a great friendship after escaping her terrible homeland where she was not safe anymore.

The Giraffe and the Ostrich

Sometimes, when you have a very cool friend, all you want to do is spend the whole day with them. That was the case of Bea the giraffe and Wilma the ostrich, who became inseparable when Bea was only three years old and Wilma was ten. Usually, giraffes intimidate Ostriches, but in the case of these two, it seemed like they were very comfortable around each other in their enclosure at Busch Gardens in the U.S. The space where they live is about 65 acres big, which is more than enough for each of them to have their own space, away from each other. But instead, they spend a lot of time together. Bea even uses her tongue to play to explore what’s around her ...including Wilma! And the ostrich doesn’t seem to mind that at all.

These two are from the same animal family, but still, it is quite uncommon to see a fox and a dog get along so well. It all started when Tinni the dog went out on a journey into the forest with his owner, Torgeir Berge in Norway. While they were out, they met a wild fox that they named Sniffer. Since then, the dog and the fox became great friends. Today, Sniffer follows Tinni and Torgeir as they explore the woods. Now, the best thing about having a photographer involved is that he can document this friendship as it develops. Berge’s pictures have shown us that the dog and the fox are very affectionate with each other. This shows us that wild animals are sometimes underestimated, misunderstood and even disrespected when people don’t know much about them. I mean, who would have thought that a wild fox could be so friendly? This encounter even made Torgeir take some steps towards stopping local people from hunting foxes for their fur.
