"Star Trek" actress Nichelle Nichols, who died on July 30, 2022 at age 89, said that Martin Luther King Jr. convinced her not to quit the role of Lt. Uhura in the Gene Roddenberry show after its first season. Nichols and the makers of the 2018 documentary "Under the Bridge" were interviewed by Yahoo Entertainment at the 2018 Comic Con in San Diego.
