In this video, I fulfilled a long-awaited wish and installed a module for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the Land Rover Discovery 4 / LR4. The module also supports screen mirroring and is connected to the rest of the system via Plug & Play.

The installation of the module takes about 3 hours without much prior knowledge. I needed a little longer because of the filming.

What all has to be removed so that I can use Apple CarPlay / Android Auto in the Discovery 4 / LR4?

First of all, the part of the centre console with the gearshift gate has to be removed. Then the control panel for the volume control and the heating and ventilation control are removed. Then the upper and lower head units must be removed.

The connection of the module is quite simple, as it is only plugged in with the enclosed cables. Make sure that the LVDS cable of the new Apple CarPlay module is connected to the upper head unit with the screen. Otherwise, all the connectors are unique and you can't go wrong.
