Nancy Pelosi was born on March 26, 1940 in Baltimore Maryland. She was the only daughter and the youngest of six children. Her father was a three-term Mayor of Baltimore and her mother was also active in politics, organizing Democratic women. In 1962 Pelosi graduated from Trinity College in Washington D.C. with a B.A. in Political Science. She has represented San Francisco in Congress since 1987. Pelosi made history in 2007 as the first woman to be elected as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, a position she regained in January 2019, becoming the first person in over six decades to do so. Throughout her career, Pelosi has been a key figure in passing significant legislation, including the Affordable Care Act and the American Rescue Plan. As a leader of the Democratic Party in the House, Pelosi played a crucial role in crafting and passing various bills during different administrations. Under the Biden-Harris Administration, she led the House in passing the American Rescue Plan, which provided pandemic relief, vaccine distribution, and support for various frontline workers and families in need. Additionally, she championed infrastructure investment, climate action, and health care reforms. Pelosi has been a vocal advocate for voting rights, government ethics, and accountability. She played a significant role in the impeachment of former President Donald Trump, demonstrating her commitment to upholding the rule of law and defending the Constitution. Throughout her tenure, Pelosi has also been an advocate for human rights, national security, and promoting democratic values around the world. She has been a leader in advocating for equality, pushing for the repeal of discriminatory policies and fighting for LGBTQ rights. Pelosi's family has a strong tradition of public service, with her father and brother both serving as mayors of Baltimore. She and her husband, Paul Pelosi, a native of San Francisco, have five grown children and nine grandchildren.
