We’ll review our houseboat’s bilge heater from Xtreme Heaters in this week’s Deep Houseboat Life video. We recently tested the Xtreme Heaters bilge heater on our houseboat on Lake Lanier in a rare snowstorm here in the southern United States. We don’t fully winterize our houseboat, which means we can enjoy year-round houseboat adventures on our Lake Lanier houseboat. While it doesn’t get cold enough long enough for Lake Lanier to completely freeze, we still need to keep our engine warm with a bilge heater to make sure all of the components don’t freeze.

We started our search for a new bilge heater this winter, because we weren’t completely confident the bilge heater that came with our houseboat when we purchased it was consistently functioning properly. Xtreme Heaters coincidentally reached out to us to try out a bilge heater, and what better way to put it to the test on our part-time liveaboard houseboat than in a snowstorm!
