Mercedes-Benz has dabbled with all-electric vehicles thus far, but the EQS 4-door Coupe (or "slope-backed sedan," if you prefer traditional segment nomenclature), is the German automakers first ground-up EV effort. Billed as the most aerodynamic production vehicle on sale, the EQS has a futuristic bean-like aesthetic that is most generously compared to sci-fi vessel and most callously likened to a Honda Civic. But beneath its conflicted exterior is a lavish, cutting-edge interior to match its six-figure price tag. With tech toys like a 56-inch Hyperscreen display and classic luxuries like a well-insulated cabin, the EQS's silent propulsion only adds to the premium driving experience.

The EQS 450+ appears something of a gap filler between traditional luxury sedans like the Merceses-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series and dedicated "premium" EVs like the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air. To be a hit, it will need amenities the current EV sedans lack and a performance efficiency punch the internal combustion 4-doors can't match. Find out if the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ seals the deal in this in-depth review.
