We’re anchored in Port Fitzroy, in the beautiful Great Barrier Island situated in the Hauraki Gulf New Zealand. Sailing to Great Barrier Island has been a trip two years in the making and we are so happy to finally be here. Join us as we explore Smokehouse Bay, an anchorage that provides sailor's with everything they could need in a very remote place. From clothes washing facilities, to BBQs, to a smoke house, pizza oven - the list goes on!

FYI the part where Adam says that he'll burn some pizzas and they'll stick to the base actually happened when we cooked pizzas with our friends. However, it was all fun and this is what memories are made of.

In December 2021, we moved aboard our sailboat Te Tāiko, a Chico 40, and we have been fortunate to sail to many of New Zealand’s islands and anchorages. Tāiko is our floating home. She gives us the freedom to go anywhere the wind and weather allows. Our plan? We try not to make too many plans but plan to do blue water cruising. Whilst sailing New Zealand's northern coastline, we're completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements. In the meantime, follow along with us as we navigate this lifestyle whilst sharpening our skills sailing New Zealand waters.
