Simon Sinek talks about convincing people and mentions that it's best to be upfront about what you want. Don't lead with the pleasantries as that loses trust, get right to the point and people will respect you and will be more likely to do what you ask.

Brian Tracy speaks of increasing influence. He explains that if you present yourself as somebody who knows exactly what they want, and how to get it, you attract the right kinds of people. People will be more likely to follow you, perform tasks that you ask of them, and apply positive attributes to you.
