Winnemucca Lake Trail in the Sierra Nevada's mountain range, is one of the most rewarding hikes in the area. It is a heavily hiked trail so start early. Winnemucca Lake Trail is known for the beautiful wildflowers in the early summertime. They are a little late this year.

Starting at 8500 ft. elevation you will feel your lungs start to burn soon into the hike. There are many ways you can get to Winnemucca Lake. We started at Carson Pass ranger station. (Still closed due to Covid-19) Parking pass required. Located in the El Dorado National Forest and Mokelumne Wilderness.

You can choose to do a quick hike to Frog lake at 2.2 miles, or pass Winnemucca lake 5.1 miles, and continue to Round Top 10 miles, or the Fourth of July lake 11.1
