The sixth and final season of the Expanse is currently in production. We know that it will be the last, and we have a lot of questions going into it. The main cast will be returning including James Holden (Steven Strait), Naomi Nagata (Dominique Tipper), Amos Burton (Wes Chatham), Bobbie Draper (Frankie Adams), Crisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo), Camina Drummer (Cara Gee), and Marco Inaros (Keon Alexander). The actor who played Alex (Cas Anvar) will not be returning, and we discuss the controversy in this video.

Season 6 will pick up right where the Expanse’s fifth season left off. The Free Navy have taken control of the Sol Ring Gate, and Medina Station. Earth is still recovering from the asteroid attacks, and Mars lost some of its military might to defectors who formed a breakaway fleet that fought alongside Inaros in the battle for Sol Ring. Avasarala has become the UN Secretary General, and named Bobbie her Liaison. The Rocinante, still reeling from the loss of their pilot, have agreed to fight as an independent ship to help try to regain control of the system for the Inner Planets.

Admiral Sauveterre and Emily Babbage disappeared trying to transit the Laconia Ring at the end of season 5. The protomolecule sample Marco stole and traded for his Navy has made it to the planet of Laconia, and we know that Cortazar and others are already there.

We don't know the Expanse season 6 release date yet, it should return to Amazon Prime in late 2021 or early 2022. This will be the final season of the TV series, and fans are hoping that there may be some future adaptation of the final trilogy in the Expanse book series.
