Hospitals across the US are struggling to keep nurses at the bedside. The problem is especially dire here in Pennsylvania, where worker burnout is causing as many as half of registered nurses to leave their jobs early in their careers, a troubling trend that nurses say is putting patients at risk.

Nurses are fighting for laws that would improve nurse-to-patient ratios, but hospitals say the measure could make matters worse. In this short documentary, we hear from nurses who say they are being asked to care for more patients than they can safely manage, and learn what patients and families can do to help ensure they receive the best care.
