On April 8, Northeast Ohio will be in the direct path of totality when the solar eclipse happens.

If you are looking to make plans for the big moment, there are a number of events and watch parties happening in Northeast Ohio.

The total solar eclipse will occur when the moon passes between the sun and earth, completely blocking the face of the sun. At the moment of totality, you will be able to gaze at the fully eclipsed sun for a once-in-a-lifetime view of the solar corona.

According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the next solar eclipse in Ohio won't happen until 2099.
