Preparing for Hurricane Idalia on Hilton head Island. Here’s a live look at the local beach as of 10 am Wednesday morning.

The hurricane is presumed to be a category one storm when it gets to the Lowcountry around 8 PM this evening.

The biggest concern is high tide coinciding with the storms arrival. Flooding and storm surge are a real concern, especially in flood prone areas.

Many businesses and doctors offices are closing in preparation, or have already closed. It’s our understanding that Publix is now closed and target remains open until noon. All of the government offices are closed through Thursday.

A storm shelter in Jasper County is now open at 10 AM at 250 Jaguar Trail in Ridgeland.

All flights out of Hilton Head airport have been canceled today. All flights leaving after noon today from the Hilton Head/Savannah Airport are canceled.
