In Lean, "visual management" is any system of visual tool that helps us make decisions, guide our actions, aid in planning, minimize waste, etc. A visual management tool we use in our home to cut down on food waste and improve our efficiency in the kitchen is a weekly meal planning board.

In this video, I show you how I designed ours and give you suggestions on how to use it and/or modify it to fit your meal prep situation. The "notes" section of each day block can be used to track who will be there for dinner (what we do), but could also be the place where you note what time you'll have dinner (based on family schedule), the cookbook where the recipe is located, special ingredients you may need to buy or defrost, etc.

Shopping list:
Whiteboard of appropriate size (office supply store)
Dry erase markers (office supply store)

Scissors (office supply store)
Automotive pinstriping tape (auto parts store)
Pen knife (hardware store or hobby shop)
Heavy duty magnets, if whiteboard doesn't include (hardware store)
Glue to attach the magnets (hardware store)

Or you could try to find all of this out on Amazon...
