Amphibious vehicles harvesting mussels in the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel (Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel). The tidal range is particularly pronounced here at over 10 meters. Accordingly, the sea retreats far at low tide.

Instead of launching smaller ships on trailers, amphibious vehicles are used to harvest mussels in Brittany, in northern France. The Bouchot mussels grow on ropes wrapped around wooden stakes that are partially exposed at low tide. The wheels can be retracted while floating and the propeller can be lowered.
