The Qualisports Model 5 is a purpose-built folding electric bike with beautifully integrated battery packs! One is inside the main tube, the other functions as the seat post. Both are locking and removable, can be charged on or off the bike, and can be charged simultaneously with the port near the crank arm on the left side. The Model 5 is a fifth-year anniversary edition with numbered limited run of 30 units, 15 are Fizzy Ocean (white and teal) as I covered in the video review, and 15 are Mint Green. Upgrades include the locking seat clamp, reflective puncture-resistant tires, and sturdy steel fenders. Optional Front and rear racks add utility for hauling gear. The included 3 amp charger is faster than average, and feels durable. Hydraulic disc brakes provide great stopping power, but don't include motor inhibitors. The bike offers torque sensing pedal assist and trigger throttle, but the throttle is limited by the assist level chosen and does not work at zero. The headlight is positioned well, has side windows for greater exposure, and runs off of the main battery pack, but does not point where you steer and has to be moved if you get the front rack option. The seat clamp was too tight and required a T30 security driver to loosen. The bike is fairly heavy at 58lbs due to having two batteries. You can save $300 by purchasing the Qualisports Dolphin model with two battery packs, and it's basically the same electric bike... without the special paint, fenders, upgraded tires, cadence sensor, suspension fork, and locking seat clamp. Extended two-year warranty with free shipping in the contiguous USA, but no refunds for the special edition Model 5 since it's numbered.
