This 2016 Ford F150 3.5 EcoBoost had an oil leak on the passenger side of the engine. It gave off a strong burnt oil smell whenever the vehicle was at a rest with the heat or a/c running. It initially appeared to be coming from the valve cover gasket. I replaced the valve cover gasket, but the problem persisted. I then removed the brake booster vacuum pump to find the large o-ring deformed and apparently failed. I replaced the o-ring and applied the recommended silicon to the joining metal surfaces. I have since put several hundred miles on the vehicle and the problem seems to be resolved. No more burnt oil smell coming in through the cabin air ducts. No more oil residue on the engine or garage floor.
