In August of 2017, a team aboard the R/V Petrel led by Paul Allen, discovered the wreckage of the U.S.S. Indianapolis. 75 years ago, on July 30th, 1945, the ship was hit by a Japanese torpedo and hundreds of sailors died. But among the survivors was Chattanooga native, Louis "Kayo" Erwin. This is his story.
