With apps you may need for trains (high-speed train Alpha Pendular), communication, travel, and more. I give an ideal itinerary for scouting out where to live or visit to maximize your time and money hitting Lisbon, Porto, and the Algarve.

A good overview covering city pairs and how to save money by combining flights, trains, and rental cars. Porto and Faro are fabulous city pairs.

Make sure to get a rental car with a toll pass included with auto-billing (and free access to Spain if you’ll be near the border). Don’t get the rental cars that charge exorbitant fees for these standard items. Check the fine print of the rental car before you book.

Apps: Skyscanner, MyCP, WhatsApp, Rome2Rio (forgot to mention that one), Rentalcars.com, Uber (or your favorite taxio etc), your airline app, hotels.com, Pestana, and Waze works great here!
