In this video, I break down The Expanse Season 5 Episode 5 "Down and Out" with a full recap and review!

Last week we saw easily my favorite episode of the season thus far, so this episode had a lot to live up to. There were things I enjoyed in this episode but overall, was somewhat disappointed. In episode four, we saw a major status-quo shift with the death of the secretary-general and the largest terrorist attack of all time. I was excited to see the fallout from this and The Expanse is no stranger to exploring the impact of world-altering events; just look at how the appearance of the Ring changed everything.

We didn’t get to see much of that. Instead, the episode was mostly focused on set-up, which is not always a bad thing, you need set-up, but it risks straying into “filler” territory which I thought happened for some of this episode. Having said that, a lot of the set-up does have me excited for what comes next and there were still some highlights I enjoyed!
