What has been done now is paint job for side nook, part insulation done, windows done, mechanism done, electricity lines put in. Progress is looking good!

Shipping containers have been introduced in Australia in the seventies, many of those units are still being used today. This gives an idea of the life expectancy of the exterior of our Glamtainers. The idea behind the Glamtainer is that it's up to you to find the most amazing view you can imagine and then we come in to make it permanent. Pop it down, pop it out and pop right in, it's that easy. Our unregistered movable dwellings (the Glamtainers) are double glazed all around, spray insulated top, bottom, sides and back, can be rated up to BAL-40 for bushfires, can be made off-grid, can add as you go, clamp an extension on it (10ft) or go for the 40ft version. Transport cost for two 20ft, one 40ft or 4 10ft containers is almost the same (within Australia), we just clamp them together for transport. Moving to another country? No worries, you can take your plug and play Glamtainer with you because it's still a fully CSC safety approved shipping container. You can stack them, clamp them and even dig them into mountains. The possibilities are endless (imagination and budget dependent really).

The Award winning Extendable Glamtainer is designed and built from scratch. It is literally thinking and acting outside the box. With the shipping containers and our own manufacturing facility the sky is the limit.
If you want to admire the Extendable Glamtainer in real life, you’re more than welcome at our factory / showroom in Pakenham (close to Melbourne, Australia).

In the meantime, feel free to browse our website for completed projects. Or..

Nothing is perfect, and when trying to make the perfect shipping container house you’re bound to make some mistakes. But mistakes are those things of which man learns.
When you think of a shipping container home you think of small houses, and rightly so because 20ft container dimensions are limiting. But what if I told you that you can increase the dimensions of a 20ft into almost those of a 40ft? Double the space as if opening a match box.
That is exactly what we at GlamXperience did. In the first iteration we came up with a prototype of the Glamtainer, it is a marvelous design with a couple of things that needed to be addressed to become mature.

The first issues were leakage and cracking of the internal finishing when transporting it a multitude of times. These specific things can only be discovered in real world settings and so we did discover them, a road to perfection. The other issues were with certifications. We are in Australia mate, everything needs to be certified, waterproofed, checked and tested. Since we come from the Netherlands most of these rules and regulations were entirely new to us so some adjustments had to be made, including adoption of the “no worries” mentality, allowing for wiggle room in planning as well as letting go of assuming everyone is able to follow tight schedules. One expert here, two experts there and so we did. Now everything is waterproof, certified and luxurious.

We took the luxury of past projects and matched it with a small box, glamping luxury in a 20ft converted shipping container. These little houses can go anywhere in the world because they are still CSC approved, which means ready for train, truck, boat and chinook (still waiting for that last one).
Our tiny house, or better luxury hotel room, required some tweaking. Most designs for container homes go for a straight and steady approach, a static long shape and you can fill it up however you like. Basically fill in a space and if you want it bigger you weld another piece onto it, or you cut a piece out for a window. We did not want this for our Glamtainer so we decided to take a different approach.

Our plans for container homes required them to be movable, non-permanent and easy to be approved by council. Also, we wanted something special.
We wanted to have something which would allow for a spectacular view comparable with those created by the love cabins in the blue mountains, yet still being portable and modular which allows for add-ons at a later date for when the time comes. We needed something that is totally different from caravan park cabins without sacrificing the great transportability, 20ft container dimensions on the outside and 40ft container dimensions on the inside did the trick. The Glamtainer was born.

So how does one build a shipping container home? It starts with a lot of preparation followed by a process of trial and error. To have a luxury spacious feel we really had to think well in terms of a small house design.
