Recorded live on my spinet. This sonata is part of a set of three sonatas (Nos. 50-52) written by Haydn during the early 1780s. It follows the traditional three-movement structure typical of classical sonatas: Allegro con brio (fast and with spirit), Adagio (slow and expressive), and Finale: Presto (fast and lively).

As one of Haydn's later piano sonatas, Hob. XVI:37 showcases his mature compositional style, characterized by its harmonic sophistication, inventive melodies, and expressive depth. It reflects Haydn's experimentation with form and texture, setting the stage for the innovations of his successors, such as Mozart and Beethoven.

Disclaimer: i am not a harpsichordist, i just like to play it.
