For many new electric car owners and those considering their first electric car, range anxiety is a real and present thought. In fact, fear of running out of charge and being stranded is often cited as being a reason people don't make the switch to electric cars.

Which is perhaps why charging station network Blink has just revealed a new portable charging station designed for use by fleets and by breakdown services. It is a charging station attached to a gasoline-powered generator.

But is this really a good solution for a very uncommon problem? is there a cheaper alternative? And don't breakdown services already have everything they need to solve the occasional flat EV battery?
