Update 2017 - The trampoline has been installed for 2 years now and has never filled up with water. The neighbors yard behind us is about 5 feet lower than our yard so that might have something to do with it.

Having a trampoline in the ground is much safer but one of the biggest benefits is being able to just jump on and off easy.
