Daurentius was a South Slavic Chieftan in the 6th century. When the ruler of Avar Khaganate sent an embassy to Daurentius and demanded him to accept Avar overlordship and pay tribute, Daurentius replied: "Others do not conquer our land, we conquer theirs. So it shall always be for us". And had the envoy slain.
