Bike sharing apps have started appearing all over China, almost overnight. Over the last year, these start-ups have literally flooded Chinese streets with their millions of colorful bikes.

These GPS- and 3G-equipped bikes can be located, reserved and unlocked through the apps of their providers. This convenience, simplicity and the availability have made the Chinese masses very attracted to these bikes.

The two industry leading companies 'Ofo' and 'Mobike' have both received massive funding in various investment rounds, making their ambitious plans a reality.

There is so much to this story that I have tried my best telling it as compressed and as quick as possible.
