The running of the 1960 Darlington Southern 500 presented by Gabriel shock absorbers. Buck Baker wins the race on 3 wheels in a controversial finish that saw both Baker and Rex White in victory lane. The race is marred when Bobby Johns crashes into the pit wall killing famed Georgia crew chief Paul McDuffie, mechanic Charles Sweatlund, and Nascar inspector Joe Taylor.
