Gigafactory Texas on 30 August 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!

Busy start to what is likely a busy week … bringing August to a close and welcoming September … possibly the last month of pure construction before Model Y production may begin in October! This is hard to fathom that we are almost at this point! Wow!

In this video, we look at the evidence gathered over the last three months that supports the idea that production, albeit it in small numbers) may actually start in October for the Model Y. This will be concurrent with on-going construction, and we look at the projected timelines this would entail. There is a lot of work that needs to be completed in September as well, not only finishing construction, but also parking areas, roads, other logistical support items, new employees at the site getting training, and supply deliveries arriving. So, these will be the things to look for in the coming month to gauge how closely they are staying to the projected timeline! Really exciting times coming up!

Here are the highlights from today's video:
- Over in the casting machine area, we see work on the roof, perimeter grade beam, slab preparation and a lot more Model Y castings. As we discuss in the video introduction, we also know where these castings are being taken to be stored and lined up for production in the Body-in-White structure! Another mystery solved!
- There are several more space frames moved (two to the north of the paint shop) and being assembled (four more). This brings to a total of 8 so far ... about 12 needed to fill in the entire "alley" area.
- As noted in the intro, they are adding a lot of grass seed and matting around the NW berm area this morning, likely in an attempt to control erosion and gives the area a much greener look. This also tells us that the berm work is essentially completed and in the final format!
- The central area is very busy with both deep pier machines at work noticeably farther south and footings being installed in the north end of the big pit. We look inside the steel structure and see a lot of floor rebar and preparations for concrete pours. The big pit itself now extends to the south perimeter beam while more storm water pipe is being installed in pits that are also being filled with concrete.
- Floor rebar work is also underway at the far south end of the General Assembly structure, where the 3rd floor in the angled corner area has had concrete poured recently. We also see more wall panels being installed on the west side and we peek inside during the last part of dawn and the interior is lighted up to see more work on the 3rd floor above the “cafeteria” area we noted in a previous video.
- At the south end of the Body-in-White structure, we see wall panels continuing to be installed in the last remaining area without panels on the east side. This could be completed as early as this afternoon!
- On the south end, we see more road and storm water pipe installation work underway under and near the south bridge area. We also see work on the west side foundation, most likely gravel used for the storm water pipes.
- Finally, on the east side, we see continued earthmoving and grade levelling on the far east section of the battery cathode foundation area.
