It's rare for a race car to be obviously different than all others but completely legal. That was the case with the car Sam Hornish drove in the 2008 All-Star race. Equality for all cars was a main point of NASCAR's Car of Tomorrow, but smart engineers can overcome rules. Thus is the story of how skew was pushed to the max and NASCAR was forced to rewrite the rule book.
