Mk2 SEAT Leon Cupra vs Mk2 SEAT Leon Cupra R: Did I Buy The Wrong One??? [feat. Driving With Nico]

Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession. Earlier in the year I was lucky enough to test SEAT UK's heritage Leon Cupra R, and seeing as I own a Mk2 Leon Cupra it seemed only natural to compare the two. Helping me out with this very important, scientific test is fellow YouTuber @DrivingwithNico .

The Mk2 SEAT Leon Cupra (when standard) produces 240hp along with 300Nm, whereas the Mk2 SEAT Leon Cupra R has more power thanks to changes to the turbo, gearing and the ECU. The result of that is a power output of 265hp and 350Nm of torque.

Both cars send their power to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox, although the R has Volkswagen's XDS to help give better traction in the corners. The Cupra will hit 62mph in 6.4 seconds, whereas the R improves that by 0.2 seconds. Both cars have almost the same top speed - 154mph for the Cupra and 155mph for the R.

The numbers only tell part of the story, and my Leon, otherwise known as 'Leo'' was created a bit more...equally than the rest 🤫
