On a fluke I thought we should have a few nesting boxes for owls to put on the property. I chose to size them for barn owls because I think they are cool looking birds and are native to this area. Doing my typical You Tube research I was surprised at the overall lack of style that was the norm in the DIY owl box world. There were a few nice ones but mostly plywood boxy things that I found to be unattractive and wouldn't want to be a fixture in my yard. I made three boxes, thinking about what the owls would need and what we wouldn't mind looking at. Now my bride thinks they look nice, and I think they have a little style, so mission accomplished. And of course, it would be nice if a barn owl or two actually would use them.
