Susan Alice Buffett was born in 1953 in Omaha, Nebraska, the eldest child of Warren Buffett. She studied home economics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and social ecology at the University of California, Irvine. She is a philanthropist whose work has focused primarily on the Sherwood Foundation, an organization in Omaha that provides grants in public education, human services, and social justice in the interest of promoting the welfare of children from lower-income families.
