It has been over three years since the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (UMSCA) was signed, ushering in a new era for North American economic cooperation. During its passage, the overwhelming bipartisan support for the USMCA within the U.S. Congress signaled a new economic and political reality and an opportunity to reset the conversation around what can be achieved by trading and working together. In the years since its implementation, rising competition with China and Russian aggression in Ukraine drew attention to the risks of U.S. economic engagement with adversaries, while the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the fragility of global value chains. Amid these global shocks, the USMCA has proven its importance as a paragon of supply chain resilience and intra-regional cooperation.

The USMCA initiative in the Global Economy and Development program at Brookings invites you to join us on Wednesday, March 6, for the launch of its third flagship report, “USMCA Forward 2024.” The event will feature panels with experts and distinguished thought-leaders on the subject.
