The Ferrari California was, by the marque's usual standards, a bit of a disappointment when it arrived back in 2008. It lacked the hard-edged feel befitting of a Maranello car, but Ferrari took note and responded with heavily updated versions. First there was the turbocharged California T, then the redesigned Portofino, and now this: the Portofino M. The new car brings an extensive list of upgrades to the Portofino package, such as a new 8-speed gearbox, revised chassis systems and more power. But does the M take the Portofino to new heights? Alex Ingram is at the wheel to find out.
