The Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, also known as MACRO (Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma), is a prominent institution showcasing contemporary art in Italy.

MACRO's permanent collection features a curated assortment of noteworthy works that reflect the evolution of the Italian art scene since the 1960s. This includes contributions from various movements, such as Forma 1, represented by artists like Carla Accardi, Antonio Sanfilippo, Achille Perilli, Piero Dorazio, Leoncillo, and Ettore Colla; Arte Povera, featuring Mario Ceroli and Pino Pascali; and the Scuola di Piazza del Popolo, which includes Tano Festa, Mario Schifano, Titina Maselli, and Mimmo Rotella.

"Museum for Preventive Imagination" is the title of the program envisioned from 2020 by the Artistic Director of MACRO — Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome, Luca Lo Pinto to transform the museum into a performative space: a stage in which events, exhibitions, and projects with different spatial and temporal dimensions coexist, and aim to involve the public with a program that is both accessible and entertaining, understandable but not didactic. The single exhibition project that will evolve organically until the end of 2024.
