Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is creating billions of offspring as the natural wonder recovers from nearly disastrous coral bleaching episodes.
Scientists recorded the coral releasing countless fertilized eggs on Tuesday into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Queensland.
The spawning event usually lasts for two or three days.
The Great Barrier Reef has suffered significantly from coral bleaching caused by unusually warm ocean temperatures over the past four years, damaging two-thirds of the coral. (AP)
