Learn the step-by-step process of the Flasking Technique Workflow for dental prostheses. The technique involves capturing patient photos, taking PVS impressions, and creating an analog model to be sent to ROE Dental Laboratory for fabrication or in-office printing of the Printed Try-In.

The process begins with taking full-face photos of the patient standing up, including full-smile, exaggerated smile, and an optional profile smile. Next, the prosthesis is removed, and PVS impressions of the tissue, MUAs, and bite are captured. These impressions can be taken digitally, but the appliances must still be shipped to ROE for mounting.

The MUA analogs are then seated passively onto each of the temporary cylinders of the prosthesis. A flask, denture cup, or any container that can hold casting stone is prepared, and the casting stone is mixed and poured into the flask. The prosthesis is set down in the stone, ensuring that the intaglio is slightly above the stone surface, and the stone is allowed to set completely.

A lab putty material is then mixed in a 1:1 ratio and kneaded into a ball large enough to cover the prosthesis and extend to the rim of the flask. The putty is wrapped around and over the prosthesis, capturing the intaglio. Once set, the putty is removed from the flask.

Finally, the analog model, putty shell, and PVS impression(s) are shipped to ROE Dental Laboratory for the fabrication or provision of in-office printing files for the Printed Try-In, a 3D-printed prototype of the final prosthesis.
