In this video I'll share my techniques for matching factory orange peel. Clear coat application is critical and using my tips to manipulate the spray guns atomization will help in achieving a factory match.

"Orange peel" refers to the texture of a painted surface that looks somewhat like the skin of an orange, with a slightly bumpy or uneven texture. This texture can be caused by a number of factors, including the quality of the paint, the technique used to apply it, and the conditions in which the paint is applied.

When vehicles are manufactured, the painting process is typically done in a highly automated and efficient manner, with the goal of producing a high volume of vehicles quickly and at a low cost. This means that the painting process is often optimized for speed and efficiency, rather than for achieving a perfectly smooth finish.

While it is possible to achieve a perfectly smooth and glossy finish with automotive paint, doing so requires a high level of skill and attention to detail, as well as the use of specialized tools and equipment. For this reason, many vehicles may have some degree of orange peel in the paint when they leave the factory. However, this is often not noticeable unless the paint is examined closely under the right lighting conditions.
