Once the county seat for Kern County, Havilah is a very scenic little town, over a pass 8 miles South of Lake Isabella. After the 1864 gold discovery, Havilah rapidly grew to a population of over 3000.
Havilah is also the site of the last Stagecoach robbery in Kern County on August 28th 1896. The Kernville stage from Caliente was held up by a lone gunman who got $1700 in coin and gold bullion from the Wells-Fargo strongbox. Although the local citizenry searched in earnest, the bounty was never recovered and the thief never apprehended. As a result of the robbery, the stage route was discontinued.
Apologies to the fine people of the township for my using Havilah for the comic relief portion of this album.

Lyrics:
HAVILAH
Havilah once was a gold mine
In Kern County in 1864
There exists no information at this time
Or I surely would have written more

Blah, blah, blah, Havilah
That's about all I can say
Blah, blah, blah, Havilah
There'll be words to jaw for Havilah someday

Blah, blah, blah, Havilah
That's about all I can say
Blah, blah, blah, Havilah
There'll be words to jaw for Havilah someday
