Here's what Shelley says about her coaching practice:

Hi, I’m Shelley. I’m a South Asian American from the Midwest, Lawyer, and Life Coach. Welcome!

I love supporting people who feel pressure from culture or society to be a certain way but would really love to find clarity and balance so that they can be their most authentic self while still being respectful of their culture, heritage, and family.

As a child of immigrants in the Midwest, I never had role models, mentors, or mental health professionals who looked like me, who shared the experiences of navigating two cultures. I never felt like I had someone helping me get clarity on what I wanted, rather than what I was expected to be.

After 10 years of lawyering and feeling burned out, it was time for a change, to find a path that is more authentic to who I am. I want to help people create good culture in their relationships, work, and life, so that their lives are what they want, and not what is expected of them. My friend suggested Life Coach. As I researched various training programs, I came across the Academy for Coaching Excellence (ACE), a rigorous and International Coaching Federation accredited coach training program grounded in ontology, or the study of being. So much of our identity is tied to what we do, rather than who we are. As a philosophy student/major, this methodology appealed to me.

Through ACE, I have learned how to best support my clients see their own wisdom and move beyond their internal stopping points by seeing who they are and what’s most important to them. It’s about what you’re doing, but it’s also about how you’re doing it, how you’re showing up in the world around you, and how you want to experience your life and your world.

It is my joy to support people to thrive in their lives, and celebrate all wins, big and small.
