"When I Was Young" was released in early 1967 by Eric Burdon and The (new) Animals. It was written by members of the band. This sixties' video is not from a TV appearance or a concert. It's a pioneering effort that predates the music videos that became common in the early '80s. The biographical theme is of Eric's youth and that of his father who was a soldier in WWII. Air battle footage is edited into Burdon's vocal performance (at a recording session). The historical and psychedelic single peaked at #45 in the UK. In the U.S., released on MGM records in April '67, the record peaked at #15. The B-side was "A Girl Named Sandoz."
