DocLands Film Festival 2021 presents a conversation with 'Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided To Go For It' Director Mariem Perez Riera with CFI Founder and Executive Director Mark Fishkin.

Among our most glittering stars, actress, dancer and singer Rita Moreno is one of the few performers to have been crowned with an Emmy®, Grammy®, Oscar®, and Tony®, making her a so-called EGOT winner. But after a long and storied career, one thing made clear in this delightful documentary portrait by director Mariem Pérez Riera is that Rita has no intention of resting on her laurels. She continues to light up screens, big and small, and dazzle on stage. Wickedly funny, Rita proves herself to be as riveting a storyteller as she is a performer. Colorful interviews with luminaries Steven Spielberg, Gloria Estefan, Eva Longoria, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Whoopi Goldberg, and Morgan Freeman add layers of depth and insight. With much of the film shot in Rita’s own North Berkeley home, the sweeping views of the Bay remind us that this force of nature shows no signs of coming down to earth anytime soon.
